Whereas Michael Novak, one of the leading exponents of democratic capitalism of the twentieth century, has advanced the principles of capitalism, democracy and moral responsibility in America and throughout the world; and
Whereas Mr. Novak’s intellectual insights and practical achievements as a theologian, scholar and philosopher have had a profound impact on his generation and have promoted the spread of democratic capitalism in former communist and socialist nations;…
Now, therefore, Michael Novak is hereby honored as the second recipient of the Institution for World Capitalism International Prize for his lifetime achievement in advancing the principles of democratic capitalism…

[The first prize was awarded to Milton Friedman in 1993 and the third to Vaclav Klaus in 1995]
